Apple released version 3.0.2 for Safari.

This fixes some weird bugs I've had with bold text not rendering, and bookmarks being completely broken. So I'm now using Safari 3.0.2 to post this :)

However, not all is well...

  1. Middle-click doesn't close tabs
  2. My Intellimouse back-forward side buttons do not work
  3. Ctrl-Tab, Ctrl-Shift-Tab doesn't switch tabs
  4. I haven't got used to the different font smoothing yet; I understand it is a matter of preference.
  5. No spell checking
  6. No plugins (adblock would be nice)

I'll probably find more as this is a beta, but it's good to know that I can view how pages look in Safari, plus the resizable Textareas are great for blog posts! If only there was spell checking...

Bug reported to Apple:

Problem with accented characters.

When inputting Greek language accented characters, like έ,ί etc, there seems to be some mangling of the forms.

The accented character is accounted as two (ie the caret moves once when the right button is pressed twice), and the form processing (and copy-paste) stops at the accented character.

BTW, the same characters, when copied from another text box (even inside Safari like the bug submitting one) work ok...
